Beau Construction

Supporting Beau Construction’s claim that “Our reputation is the most successful thing we have ever built,” are two examples of their many outstanding projects which have earned them well-deserved respect throughout Jersey and the Channel Islands.

A Jersey-based, locally owned construction company established in 2009, Beau Construction has the capability to complete all types of construction projects, including residential, commercial, design and build, renovations, restorations, and refurbishments. 70% of their work comes through recommendations.

Showcasing the high levels of skill and quality workmanship which are the hallmark of every project undertaken by Beau Construction, two examples of their recently completed developments are residential schemes at La Girouette, St Clements, and Maison Martin, St Helier.

La Girouette, St Clements

This project involved the comprehensive refurbishment of a spacious detached home purchased by Beau Construction’s development arm, Kari Developments which is owned by Carl Southam and Richard Jones. The house includes four bedrooms, a dressing room, three bathrooms, a utility room, a spacious double aspect lounge and kitchen, and has a large lawned garden and sun terraces.

Carl Southam, owner of Beau Construction said: “The property had not been touched since 1989 and everything needed to be replaced. We stripped out the interior and started from scratch including new plasterboard to the walls and ceilings, skimming and insulation. Wood work comprised of cottage style oak doors, new ironmongery, square edge architrave and skirting with new floor finishes, throughout.

“A stylish new hand painted kitchen and utility room complete with Neff appliances and Minerva worktops where also fitted. The house is a one-bathroom house with a master bathroom and en-suite with new plumbing installed throughout and a full rewire of the electrics. Work also included new floor finishes and a comprehensive re-decoration to give it that modern look.”

The works also included the construction of a new single storey flat/pitched roof extension containing a master bedroom with bifold doors leading in the garden a, dressing room and his and hers ensuite bathroom.

Externally new pvc anthracite wood grain windows, aluminium bifold doors, anthracite fascias, soffits gutters and down pipes were installed. The property has had a silicone render applied to the elevations to add to the modern look.

As part of the work, the entire garden was landscaped. A large lawn and new sun terraces were created with anthracite porcelain tiles to incorporate the surrounding views of the countryside together with the addition of a garage and parking space for four cars.

Adjacent fields which were purchased together with the property have been sold by Beau construction/ Kari Developments to the Parish of St Clements, with Beau Construction transforming the land into a woodland with native trees, shrubs, and plants, to be enjoyed by the local community.

Carl Southam commented: “I am really pleased with the way the project turned out – the house now looks absolutely stunning.”

The property is up for sale for £1,445,000.

Originally part of the property’s garden, a section of land has been earmarked and plans submitted for an additional development comprising the construction of a three-bedroom dormer bungalow with a garage and rap around gardens and parking for 4 cars subject to planning consent.

Maison Martin, St Helier

In a similar project, an impressive three bedroom detached house has been created through the extensive refurbishment of a stripped-back shell in a scheme undertaken by Beau Construction /Kari Developments. The house includes two bathrooms – one ensuite and one house, a spacious lounge and a kitchen diner, complete with Minerva worktops and appliances, as well as a separate utility room.

Carl Southam commented: “The house had lain empty for around 18 months, but hadn’t been touched for 30 or 40 years, so extensive refurbishment was needed.”

All the works completed were similar to those at La Girouette, including the installation of new plasterboard to wall and ceiling, skimming, new flooring, skirtings, full rewire of the electrics, all new plumbing throughout, as well as the installation of a high-quality kitchen and new bathrooms, together with upgraded insulation to all walls and floors throughout. New doors and windows were also installed, with the property also having a silicone render applied to the external walls.

In addition, the gardens were landscaped and new turf and pathways were laid with anthracite porcelain tiles to give the house a modern feel and look. As part of the work the existing garage was refurbished.

Carl Southam added: “The project was a success and the house has been completely transformed beyond recognition.”

The property is up for sale for £1,050,000.
