Jersey Post Docking Station Extension
A project at the Jersey Post Headquarters, which has seen the demolition of the existing external stores and the construction of a new steel frame, has recently been undertaken by Style Shopfitting. Work started on the project in February 2018 and has also included the composite clad extension to the existing dock station and parcel storage area, including piled foundations and a power floated slab. Further work also included the upgrading of mechanical and electrical services both inside and outside of the new extension, new drainage and external works such as tarmac parking areas to suit the new site layout.
Style Shopfitting worked alongside Waddington Architects, Beaumont Structural Consultants, BGBT and Tillyard to complete the project.
Commenting on the work, Phil James, Managing Director of Style Shopfitting said: “The project has gone really well and this has been aided by the professional way the client and the design team have worked with us to overcome any issues that have arisen. Once we took possession of the project we had to demolish three large store buildings to create space for the new extension. This was carried out quickly and safely which allowed the new build works to be started on time and to follow the programme, finishing in accordance with agreed dates.
“We hope the additional space provided will help Jersey Post in dealing with the massive volume of post that is processed at Rue des Pres daily.
“The project has been very important to us as it has allowed us to again demonstrate to our client and the design team that we can be trusted to carry out challenging projects in a professional and friendly manner.”
Jacksons Garage Development
Works have commenced for the development at the Jacksons Garage site in St. Peter. Phase 1 entailed a complex phased upgrade of the existing facilities, the construction of a new Volvo showroom within the existing workshop and a new 700m2 Jaguar Land Rover showroom to house the latest and most advanced models, along with elegant sales and customer facilities.
The existing workshop is also being extended and fitted out with the modern equipment required to maintain such luxury brands as Aston Martin, Bentley and Porsche.
The development is being executed within a live working environment so therefore requires careful planning and sequencing in order to allow the client efficient and beneficial use of the existing space during the construction, whilst working to provide a quality of finish that emanates luxury.
Commenting on the work, James Joseph, Managing Director of AC Mauger said: “As the project is currently being undertaken on a Design and Build basis, the initial brief/specifications were prepared by the client including Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo corporate architects. AC Mauger have employed the services of Waddington Architects and Hartigan Structural, Mechanical and Electrical Consultants to provide the construction phase drawings and specifications. The client has employed the services of Shield Construction Consultants as the professional quantity surveyor.
“The project is being undertaken in two phases. The first phase comprised the enabling works package which included the demolition of existing offices and showroom, all temporary and permanent works, linked services and drainage. The second phase, which is now currently being constructed, includes new Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo showrooms, the extension of existing workshop facilities and the refurbishment of the existing building to provide a valet facility together with the refurbishment of existing administration offices, external works and landscaping.”
The project is due to be completed by the end of the third quarter 2018.
